COTTAGE GROVE SOCCER CLUB ANNUAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES

AUGUST 16, 2004

 

Meeting was called to order by club president.

Approval of CGSC by-law amendments
Carl Pulvermacher highlighted the amendments to the by-laws. Jim Hanson also noted that the by-laws are used as guidance for board members. A copy of the new by-laws will be available on the website and a copy will go to Sue Welsch, Treasurer for non-profit status records. It was moved by Tory Pomeroy to approve the by-law amendments, Second by Lenny Komorowski, motion carried.

Voting Members
It was questioned as to who were the voting members of the club and should coaches be part of the voting. Voting members consist of only the Club Board Members. In order for a quorum to be held half the club board members need to be present in order to vote on any issues pertaining to the club. If not a quorum, it will be tabled until the next meeting. Voting members consist of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Age Commissioners, and Registrar.

Position appointments & approval
Carl Pulvermacher nominated Ann Manz as the new Fundraising Coordinator and Tory Pomeroy as the Referee and Soccer Clinic Coordinator, seconded by Craig Bower. Motion carried.

Club Secretary and Club Vice-President positions were up for renewal. It was voted that Joanna Schmidt and Jim Hanson be re-elected into these positions. Motion by Carl Pulvermacher, second by Craig Bower, motion carried.

Don Meyferth will be the new U-14 Coordinator.

Tim Karls was nominated to be the U-10 coordinator, motion by Carl Pulvermacher, second by Craig Bower, motion carried.

President’s goals
Carl Pulvermacher briefly gave an overview of what his goals as club president are. He would like to fill all vacant club positions; he wants to establish a better relationship with the Monona Grove Soccer Club; gain some relationship with another club, i.e. Princeton Club.

Budget issues
Carl Pulvermacher briefly outlined the budget.

Jim Hanson purchased four new U-8 goals. Don Meyferth would like to use the old U-8 goals for practice.

Discussion was made regarding the gym rental. Carl Pulvermacher mentioned that he or Lisa Pulvermacher will follow-up with Jeff Avery on gym rental costs this year. It will be determined at the Fall meeting whether to reserve gym depending on pricing.

Korey Frey presented a check donation in the amount of $250.00 from the Wisconsin Soccer Academy for this year’s summer camp. 34 kids attended the camp this year.

K-1 referees
Carl Pulvermacher went over the proposed changes to the K-1 format. It will be 3v3 , two games playing simultaneously, no referees.

Carl Pulvermacher proposed that two referees be added to U-8. Referee budgets will be $20.00/game, at two referees per/game $10.00/each.

All Coaches are encouraged to get a G-license. There will be a G-license clinic here in Cottage Grove on September 7, 2004. Location TBA. Check website for details.

Coaches team clothing
All head coaches will be receiving Cottage Grove Soccer Club jackets this year. If you need to order a jacket, please see Joanna Schmidt/Club Secretary for ordering details. This will be paid for by the club. The jackets will be hand delivered by Joanna Schmidt the club secretary.

Vacant club positions
Lenny Komorowski has resigned from his K-1 Coordinator Position. Thank you Lenny for many years of hard work and commitment.

Carl Pulvermacher went over all current vacant club positions.

Team sponsors
Carl Pulvermacher suggested that we look into sponsorship for a 2-3 year commitment, so that we can use sponsors for our U-9 and up teams. Joanna will work on sponsorship commitments.

Monona Grove Youth Soccer Night
Don Meyferth mentioned that Tuesday night, September 28 th was Youth night at the JV/Varsity Monona Grove Soccer game. At ½ time the teams in attendance get to parade down center field, Kids wearing their team jersey get in free. JV game at 5:00PM and Varsity at 7:00PM. Many prizes will be raffled during half time.

Field conditions
Don Meyferth had some concerns about the Taylor Prairie soccer field. A letter will be drafted and sent to the Village Parks Department asking about aerating the fields twice/year and possibly top soil being brought in. Joanna Schmidt will work with Don Meyferth on this issue.

Also note that Mike Hardy with the Village Parks needs a disc of this years soccer games.
