Cottage Grove Soccer Club Meeting Minutes
November 13, 2003, 7:00 PM
Those present at meeting: Carl Pulvermacher, Bob Conner, Tim Karls,
Don Meyferth, Jim Johanns, Tory Pomeroy, Jim Hanson, and Joanna Schmidt.
Meeting was called to order at 7:10pm by the club president.
President Report
Carl noted that all coaches should have equipment for each of their
teams i.e. balls, goalie gloves, shirts, cones.
The recommendation was to do a Spring Equipment SWAP at the spring coaches
meeting. Jim Hanson will continue to be responsible for organizing the
equipment. Jim will also be responsible for handling all equipment for
new coaches.
U6-U7 Format
Jim Johanns recommended that the K-1 team rosters be made smaller and
in turn request more parent participation. However, Carl proposed that
the U6-U7 games be changed to a 3 v 3 with no goalie and 2 games running
simultaneously format. Each team would consist of a 12 child roster
and 2 coaches. Carl is going to discuss this option with Lenny Komorowski.
The change in format at this level would bring continuity to the teams
as they moved up to U8 where the format is 4 v 4, no goalie, 2 games
running simultaneously and a 12 child roster. It would allow the teams
to stay together.
Registration format
Tim Karls brought up the issue of having 4-years playing in the K-1
program. Club agreed that if the 4 year old was attending school in
Cottage Grove that they would be eligible to play.
By-laws
A copy of the by-laws was handed to each coach in attendance at the
meeting.
Field Issues
Corey Frey who was not at the meeting did have some concerns regarding
the Northlawn field which is shared by the High School Soccer Team.
This field seems to have some field condition problems and usage issues.
There will be a Parks and Recreation meeting on December 11th, at which
time the club can bring up our concerns. In adding Field Markings this
also needs to be approved by Parks and Recreation. It will cost approximately
$68.00 pr set for field markings.
It was also mentioned that the goals up at Cottage Grove
School could be used in a more permanent placement.
